Clarissa B. Lyon, VMD

Berwyn, PA

White Horse Veterinary Associates' Clarissa Lyon, VMD, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Lyon became interested in co-founding Academic Veterinary Solutions after she recognized the expanding need for easily-accessible online multimedia educational materials for veterinarians. This is particularly true for smaller but highly-committed specialty groups like equine veterinarians.

Dr. Lyon lives in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, with her husband, two horses and two dogs.
Laura H. Javsicas, VMD, DACVIM

Saratoga Springs, NY

Dr. Javsicas received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Following an internship at the Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY, she completed a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Florida and stayed on as a Lecturer. She is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has special interests in neonatology, ultrasonography, gastrointestinal diseases and emergency/critical care medicine.

Currently, Dr. Javsicas is the internal medicine specialist at Upstate Equine Medical Center, just outside of Saratoga Springs, NY and enjoys riding, hiking, cooking, and traveling with her husband, David.
Amy I. Bentz, VMD, DACVIM

As a co-founder of AVS, Dr. Bentz strives to offer multimedia education for veterinarians. A 1997 graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Bentz was an associate in private practice for four years before returning to the University for the Large Animal Neonatal/Perinatal Fellowship at New Bolton Center. After completing a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine, Dr. Bentz was certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and performed research on preterm birth and its effect on the developing fetal brain as an NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow.

Dr. Bentz also serves as equine chair for the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association's Scientific Program Committee, teaches at University of Pennsylvania and Manor College, and is a consultant for Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

Professional interests include care of geriatric horses, emergency/critical care medicine, and always striving to find a work-life balance!

Academic Veterinary Solutions employs a wide variety of video, multimedia, and interactive producers and designers in New York City, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
